Kids love play dough, but if your kids are like mine, they don’t like putting it away and they like using tons of different colors. Instead of going out to buy new play dough every time it gets dried out or the colors become unrecognizable, make your own at home. It’s super easy, naturally non-toxic, and uses ingredients you probably already have in your cabinet.
2 cups flour
2 cups water
1 cup salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar
1. Mix all the ingredients except food coloring in a medium sauce pan over medium heat.
2.Stir and keep over heat until it gets a play dough texture. Remove from heat.
3. Separate the dough into balls corresponding to the number of different colors you want to make. Put food coloring into the middle of each ball and kneed until the color is dispersed evenly.
4. Enjoy! You can keep the dough in airtight containers when the kids are done playing to save it for the next play time (or just make more if it gets left out a little too long).
